The interim government on Wednesday appointed joint-secretary Md Golam Rabbani as the secretary of the Law and Justice Division.

In the absence of a secretary, Golam Rabbani has been serving as the de-facto chief of secretarial duties of the division since 8 September.

He was named the new secretary of Law and Justice Division after consultation with the Supreme Court, said a notification issued by the division.

He is a former registrar general of the apex court, but the ousted autocratic Awami League government transferred him as district judge to Chattogram about 90 days ago.

On 13 August, the interim government, formed in the wake of AL government’s fall, brought him back to the capital and appointed him as a joint secretary of the Law and Justice Division.
