Bangladesh Artistes’ Welfare Trust has been reformed. The Cultural Affairs Ministry announced the names of the welfare trust members through a notification on Sunday.

Among the 15 members committee-- Adviser of the Ministry of Culture, Secretary, Director General of Bangla Academy, Director General of Shilpakala Academy, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Managing Director of Artistes’ Welfare Trust are from cultural affairs ministry.

In addition, representatives from different fields have been included in the new committee.  The list includes poet, columnist and organiser Nahid Hasan, film director Ashfaque Nipun,, actor Nawshaba Ahmed, theatre personality and teacher Samina Luthfa, writer and teacher Tuhin Wadud, musician Kanak Chapa, poet Imtiaz Mahmud and poet Syed Jamil.  

They will serve the reconstituted board of trustees for the next three years.

Bangladesh Artistes’ Welfare Trust officially started its journey on 11 August 2022, in addition to supporting poor and sick artistes and providing scholarships for special contributions to art.
