A case was filed with a Chattogram court on Sunday against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina over her 2022 threats to attack and physically humiliate Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

Sourabh Priya Pal, former vice president of Chattogram Mahanagar Chhatra Dal, filed the case with the court of Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Deb alleging the ousted autocratic prime minister threatened to toss Khaleda down into the Padma River from the newly-built Padma Bridge for criticising the project.

Hasina had also called for dipping Yunus twice into the river before lifting him on the Padma Bridge.

The plaintiff's lawyer Advocate Rezaul Islam said, the court took cognizance of the case and ordered the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to probe the charges.

The court directed to submit a report within thirty days after getting the investigation completed by an additional superintendent of police or an officer equivalent to the rank of assistant superintendent of police.

Plaintiff Sourabh Priya Pal said, Sheikh Hasina had publicly threatened to dip the current chief adviser into the Padma River and instigated the terrorists of her party to kill Begum Zia.
