A group of students of Dhaka University held a rally on Friday, demanding a politics-free campus.

They gathered at the feet of the Anti-Terrorism Raju Memorial Sculpture around 3:30pm and staged demonstrations to press home their demand.

The students said they would not allow any kinds of politics, including those of teachers, students, as well as officers, and employees, on the campus.

They also demanded that the university authorities revive the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) quickly and hold the DUCSU election soon to make the campus stable.

While speaking at the rally, Rafiur Rahman Rajib, a student of the university, said, “The students of Dhaka University have been tortured since long ago due to the party-backed politics which forced the students to be turned into political slaves.

“Teachers were also involved in the party-backed politics, which degraded the academic quality,” he said, adding that some teachers were more interested in politics than teaching.
