A Dhaka court on Wednesday granted a four-day remand for Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, energy adviser of ousted premier Sheikh Hasina, over the killing of a youth in the capital’s Badda area during the job quota reform protests.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ali Haider passed the remanded order in response to a plea made by the case investigation officer seeking 10 days in remand.
A team of detectives arrested him from the capital's Gulshan area Tuesday night.
According to the case statement, Sumon Sikder, 31, was killed with gunfire on 19 July at the height of the quota reform movement.
On 20 August, his mother filed a murder case in this regard, accusing 179 people including Sheikh Hasina and Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury.
