Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has clarified that the statement made by former brigadier general Abdullahil Aman Azmi regarding the national anthem does not represent the party’s official stance, as Azmi is not a member of the party.
The party’s Secretary General Professor Mia Gholam Porwar said this in a statementon Sunday.
The statement reads as follows, “Recently, we have noticed reports in some national dailies and online news portals regarding the remarks made by former brigadier general Abdullahil Aman Azmi. We would like to clarify that Azmi is not affiliated with Jamaat-e-Islami. He holds no organisational position within our party and does not represent Jamaat-e-Islami in any capacity.”
“The views Azmi has expressed are strictly his own and should not be linked to our party. Therefore, there is no basis for associating his statements with Jamaat-e-Islami, and we urge all concerned to refrain from spreading any confusion in this regard,” the statement reads.
