Rate to hit 9% from 8.5% in a day or two

Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H Mansur has said the central bank would hike interest rate to 9% from existing 8.5% within a day, and would further push up the rate to 10% within months to tame consumer inflation.
He made the remarks in an exclusive interview with BBC that was published Thursday.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) had already asked Bangladesh to tighten its monetary policy and keep exchange rates flexible while extending a $4.7 billion loan package for the South Asian nation.
