Zainul Abdin Farroque, a member of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s advisory council, has filed an attempt to murder case against Harunor Rashid, additional commissioner and Biplob Kumar Sarkar, joint commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
Farroque filed the case against the two top police officials with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station on Monday 13 years after the attack.
In the case, he alleged that Harunor Rashid, then additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Tejgaon Division, and Biplob Kumar Sarkar, then assistant commissioner (AC), carried out an attack in a bid to kill him.
Earlier on 6 July 2011, Farroque, then chief whip of the opposition, was attacked by police these two on Manik Mia Avenue in front of the South Plaza of the Parliament while he was holding a protest programme against then ruling Awami League government.
