Engineer AKM Shahid Uddin, deputy managing director of Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA), has been promoted to its managing director.

A new Managing Director (MD) was appointed this afternoon following the resignation of Taqsem A. Khan from the position.

Earlier in the day, Taqsem’s contractual appointment was canceled.

The Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministry issued a notification in this regard.

Taqsem was first appointed as the MD of the WASA in October 2009 and his tenure was extended seven times thanks to the prolong stay of Sheikh Hasina-led government in the state power.
