Bangla Academy Director General Prof M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari has resigned from his post.

Confirming the matter on Saturday, Bangla Academy Director Sarkar Amin said the resignation letter has been sent to the ministry concerned through the proper channel.

“The ministry may accept it on Sunday and set the next course of action,” he added.  

Prof Askari, a former vice-chancellor of Islamic University in Kushtia, took over as the director general of Bangla Academy on 24 July.

The government appointed him to the post for a three-year tenure on 18 July.
