BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called upon the countrymen to stay calm amid the evolving situation following the collapse of the Hasina-led Awami League government.

Fakhrul made the call after emerging from a meeting held with Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman on Monday.

Earlier in the day, the chief of the army staff held a meeting with leaders of different political parties at the Army Headquarters where he announced that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has resigned from her post.
