Expressing deep concern and apprehension amid the ongoing violent situation, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has urged all concerned to restore peace.

The NHRC also stressed the need for bringing security and ease to people in their public life.

The commission feels that it is important to preserve the rights and dignity of the people in accordance with the constitutional and humanitarian approach at all levels.

Regarding the close observation of the current violent situation, NHRC Chairman Dr Kamal Uddin Ahmed said, “Many valuable lives have already been lost across the country, which is very painful. On several occasions, the commission emphasised the importance of restoring peace in public life by shunning all forms of violence and sabotage.”

“But, it is a matter of great regret that the intensity of the movement is not decreasing despite having so many painful incidents. Instead of bringing any peace to the conflicting sides and the frequent violence, it has created the possibility of more tragic loss of life and brutality in the future. Under this situation, it is essential to bring stability after removing all instability.”

The NHRC chairman further said “At the national level, an atmosphere of peace and mutual understanding can be created through globally recognised discussions. To this end, it is absolutely necessary for all parties to participate in the dialogue with an attitude of cooperation, tolerance and solidarity among all.”
