Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman on Saturday said the Bangladesh Army will remain beside the people for the sake of the nation.

He said this while addressing the officers as part of the regular activities at the Helmet Auditorium in the army headquarters in Dhaka.

At the event, General Waker-Uz-Zaman exchanged his views with army officers amid the ongoing crisis the country has been facing for weeks.

In his speech, he shed light on the current security situation in the country and provided directives regarding the activities of the army.

He laid emphasis on ensuring the safety of people’s lives and properties as well as the security of important state installations under any circumstances.

Mentioning that the Bangladesh Army is a symbol of the confidence of the country’s people, he urged the officers to be aware of various rumours circulating on social media and to perform duties with honesty and sincerity.

All the officers of Dhaka, Mirpur and Savar cantonments, educational institutions (NDC, DSSC, MIST and BUP) participated in person at the officers’ address.

The officers from the cantonments outside Dhaka were connected to the event through video teleconference (VTC).
