Family members of Abu Sayeed, a 25-year-old English Department student of Begum Rokeya University who died during the recent quota reform movement, will meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday.

Sayeed’s parents and brother left for Dhaka in a microbus from Pirganj of Rangpur on Saturday morning, Mohammad Mobasher Hasan, deputy commissioner, Rangpur, told the media.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given her consent as Sayeed’s family members expressed their eagerness to meet her, he said.

Abu Sayeed was at the forefront of the protesters when a clash broke out between police and quota reform protesters in front of Rangpur's Begum Rokeya University on 16 July.

The police were stationed directly in front of him, right at the main gate of the university.

At one point, he received rubber bullets and met the tragic end of his life.
