The Bangladesh Bank has instructed banks to keep their branches open from 10am to 3pm in accordance with the reduced curfew hours.
Md Mezbaul Haque, executive director and spokesperson of the central bank, informed UNB that scheduled banks would follow this office schedule on 28, 29, and 30 July, aligning with government office timings.
However, bank branches will close by 3:30pm after completing their ancillary office work.
Banks opened on Wednesday and Thursday from 11am to 3pm during the relaxed curfew period. These limited hours led to overcrowding of customers, as banks reopened for only four hours following a three-day closure due to the nationwide curfew.
Internet services were disrupted for five consecutive days amid violence over quota reform protests in government jobs.
Following the resolution of these issues, government and private offices reopened for four hours on Wednesday, including banks and financial institutions.
Since the banks opened at 11am, customers have flocked to the branches, primarily to withdraw cash, according to bank officials.
