Public transport operations in the capital significantly increased on the second straight day of curfew relaxation, leading to traffic congestion on different roads.
This morning, increased pedestrian and vehicular movement was observed on different roads in the city, with public buses, motorbikes, private cars, rickshaws, and CNG-run auto-rickshaws contributing to traffic jams.
Due to the ongoing curfew, many roads still have barricades, causing bottlenecks and exacerbating traffic on the main roads.
As Thursday marks the last day of the week, traffic congestion is likely to worsen as the day progresses.
Azizul Islam, a private sector employee in the Rampura area, said that the availability of public transport had increased compared to the previous day. "Today, I found a vehicle quite easily, unlike yesterday when there was a shortage. However, it might be challenging to reach the office on time due to the traffic congestion," he said.
Meanwhile, long-distance buses began operating normally from the capital’s Gabtoli, Sayedabad, and Mohakhali terminals, signalling a return to regular intercity bus services.
