Despite making a brilliant 59-ball 80, Bangladesh’s opener Murshida Khatun said on Wednesday that she is disappointed not to stay till the end against Malaysia in their last Group B match of the Women's T20 Asia Cup in Dambulla on Wednesday.

Murshida, who took Bangladesh to the semifinals of the tournament, looked all set to get her maiden T20I hundred before falling to Elsa Hunter in the 17th over trying to play a shot over the head of the covers.

“The biggest regret is that I should have stayed till the end because I have carried till the 17th over I should have stayed till the end,” Murshida told reporters following the game.

The left-handed opener, who scored back-to-back half century after not being picked in the opening game against Sri Lanka, insisted that she was not losing her sleep over the issue while added that she was thinking not to make the mistake that she had done on her fifty against Thailand in the previous game.

“The team planned to give me rest in the opening game and that is why I did not play,” Murshida said.

“I recovered from the mistake of the last day. From the start, I tried to play on singles. In the previous game, my starting was very poor and later I covered it. In this game I planned to play attacking cricket from the very beginning,” she said adding that she is well aware that if they can support inform skipper Nigar Sultana they are likely to achieve a lot of success in the coming days.

“It is a game of 11 players and she plays most of the time and if two or three batters support her (Nigar)  Inshallah it will be good for the country,” she said adding that she is well aware that she needs to achieve a similar feat against India in their semifinal match.

“Certainly (the responsibility is bigger) and if a batter gets back into the run in a tournament like Asia Cup it is a very good thing. I am thinking how good I have played here need to do better than that over there (in the semifinals) by getting over my lacking,” she added.

“Yes, I’m very confident before the next match which is the semifinals,” she said.

Murshida added that they have a good understanding with opener Dilara Akter with whom she put 50 runs partnership after 35 games.

“Whether it is T20 or ODI if the openers can put up a 50-run stand by utilizing the power play it becomes easy for others and we are looking to carry it,” said Murshida.

“I’ve a very good understanding with Dilara as we have been batting together for a long time, but there were some problems/miscommunication in the previous match, not today it was good,” she said.

Murshida added that she is not very disappointed in not getting the number 29 jersey as she feels wearing the jersey number 75 which is worn by Shakib Al Hasan is a matter of luck.

“There is no mystery behind it,” said Murshida.

“The board gave it to me and I am wearing it. I wanted the number 29 as Tamim vai is a cricketer of my liking. Shakib bhai is a world-renowned cricketer and till now he is the best and wearing the jersey of his number is a matter of luck. Whatever Allah does is for our good,” she added.
