Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official said on Tuesday that they are waiting for a reply from former skipper Tamim Iqbal regarding his plan about his international career.

Tamim, who last played international cricket against New Zealand in September 2023, had already retired from T20Is while there is a high-scale speculation that he is unlikely to play Test in near future.

However, many feels the left-handed batsman still got something to give to Bangladesh in the ODIs and can make an international comeback with the forthcoming ICC Champions Trophy.

“We are waiting for Tamim. I have already said that we are waiting for a reply. We have already given him an offer. So Tamim will do his final discussions and let us know,” BCB’s cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus told the reporters on Tuesday.

“Our board president has given the responsibility to me and Enayet Hossain Siraj. So we have done discussion with him from our side and after the meeting he (Tamim) said that he will discuss further with the board president and come to a decision,” he said.

“This was the last update. I know even after that Tamim communicated with the president several times. So, I guess Tamim Iqbal can say well about this (when he can return). If he tells us about his plan it would be easier for us to make our plan,” he concluded.
