At least four women students of Eden College were injured when women leaders of Chhatra League (BCL) intercepted them on their way to University of Dhaka (DU) to join anti-quota protests.
Among the injured was Shahinur Sumi, 28, president of the Eden College unit of Socialist Students’ Front. She was receiving treatment at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), along with the other three injured, after the BCL leaders allegedly poured hot water on her.
The clash erupted when Eden College’s BCL leaders spotted the anti-quota student protesters gathering to march towards DU. The BCL leaders attempted to prevent the protesters from going past the college gate, which led to a scuffle and eventually injury to a number of women protesters.
