It is said that education is the backbone of a nation. But sometimes even the educated masses want to break the backbone of a nation. So, many are now bound to say that good education is the backbone of a nation. It is because all education cannot help the nation to stand high.
Once upon a time it was thought that lobbying was necessary to get a government job. But now, at least it is clear that talent guarantees jobs. It is true that nowadays the competition has increased in the job market. But those who make excellent results in the job tests keep getting jobs one after another. Amidst such a situation that creates optimism, there is also disappointment. There have been many complaints of question leakage in government job tests in recent years. Such misuse of education threatens the nation’s future, producing corrupt officials who often indulge in unjust activities and big crimes.
Examination is one of the methods of distinguishing good students from those who neglect their studies. It is usual that if they study hard, they will make good results, but if they do not, they may cut a poor figure in the exams. But many students do not have to rely on their study anymore, because they get question papers before the exam. Even during the SSC and equivalent examinations, admission examinations of various universities and various recruitment examinations, there have been widespread complaints of leaking questions in recent times.
Primary schools are the repository of education. But there are also complaints of irregularities in this sector such as recruitment and transfer trades, question leakage etc. It is not expected that the future of the nation should get spoiled due to corruption in such a place.
Although the trend of question leakage in the country is quite old, the public service commission was a place of trust for the students of the country. The Public Service Commission was recognised as the epitome of fairness and transparency. But the recent investigative report of channel 24 about the questions leakage of various recruitment exams including BCS has broken the hearts of thousands of educated and unemployed youths.
There have been allegations of question leakage of BCS cadre and non-cadre recruitment exam conducted by Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC). It was alleged that the recent 46th BCS preliminary exam question papers were also leaked and some 14 candidates passed the preliminary examination by obtaining those leaked questions. According to a media report, at least 12 officials and employees of PSC are involved in the BCS question leakage cycle.
According to report of a national daily, in 2021, the question papers of 1 thousand 511 officer (cash) posts of five state-owned banks were leaked. Later investigation showed that at least 16 people including bank officers, technicians and peons were involved in the crime. This cycle worked like a chain. One lakh 16 thousand 427 job-seekers participated in that examination. The recruitment test, however, was later cancelled. And many such incidents of question leakage of government job recruitment tests have been reported in the media in the previous years.
One of the main objectives of education is to develop moral character. But is it possible if this happens in society? The answer is definitely not. If the moral character had developed, the educated class could not have been involved in such vile acts like leaking questions. Hence, moral education should be given more importance in our education system. And these criminals must be identified and punished.
