The 5th death anniversary of former president and founding chairman of Jatiya Party (JaPa) Hussain Muhammad Ershad will be observed Sunday.

JaPa and its associate organisations have planned for elaborate programmes to observe the death anniversary in a befitting manner.

As part of the programmes, JaPa and its associate bodies will place floral wreaths at the portrait of Hussain Muhammad Ershad at the party's central office at Kakrail in the capital at 9am Sunday.

A doa mahfil and memorial meeting will be held at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) at 3pm, said a party press release issued Saturday.

JaPa Chairman GM Quader, also leader of the opposition in parliament, will chair the meeting while JaPa Secretary General Md Mujibul Haque Chunnu and other central leaders will take part in a discussion session.

All divisional, district, city, upazila, thana and union units of JaPa will separately organise discussion meetings, milad and doa mahfils in observance of the death anniversary of the party's former chairman.
