Six accused gave statements before a Dhaka court on Tuesday confessing their part of involvement in the leak of question papers during government job examinations.
Their statements were recorded under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure after the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) members produced them before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, sources said.
The accused are – Syed Abed Ali, 52, a former driver at the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC), Md Khalilur Rahman, Sajedul Islam, 41, Md Shakhawat Hossain, 34, Sayem Hossain, and Liton Sarkar.
On Monday, the CID arrested 17 people conducting drives in Dhaka and elsewhere on charges of leaking question papers in BCS and other government exams.
On Tuesday, the investigating officer filed a petition before the court over recording statements of the seven accused and keeping 10 others behind bars until the investigation is completed.
Taking cognisance of the petition, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tahmina Haque ordered to send them to jail denying their bail petitions.
Accused Abu Soleman Md Sohel, 35, did not give his statement before the court though he was supposed to do so, said CID Superintendent of Police Azad Rahman.
