Bangladesh High Commission to Brunei has screened "Mujib,” the movie on Bangladesh history by noted Indian filmmaker Shyam Benegal, marking the celebration of the anniversary of diplomatic relations between Brunei and Bangladesh to achieve the milestone of 40 years.
In "Mujib,” the life and political journey of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was portrayed.
The movie was released on 13 October, 2023.
In an interview, Shyam Benegal said “A Historical Biography—It is a biographical film about Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his place in the history of Bangladesh and South Asia.”
It is also the first biopic in the movie industry in Bangladesh. A person whom every Bengali has cherished since childhood. From the boy of Tungipara to Mujib bhai and finally Bangabandhu, such an eventful life.

Many were skeptical about how much an 88-year-old retired Indian director would be able to capture so many dimensions, so much politics, and a diverse array of Bengali emotions on screen.
Shyam Benegal did the homework painstakingly to tell the stories of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a great statesman, and his inflexible testament of struggles to establish an independent and sovereign homeland for his people in Bangladesh.
Ambassadors from Turkiye, China, diplomats, academics from UTB, members of the Bangladesh community, and Bruneian friends attended.
