Sewing machines distributed among 200 Cumilla women

Bashundhara Shuvosangho has distributed high-quality sewing machines among 200 underprivileged women of ten upazilas of Cumilla to empower the community.

Before getting the machines, the beneficiaries received sewing training from the centre ran by the social platform of the leading industrial conglomerate in the country.

Cumilla Sadar Member of Parliament AKM Bahauddin Bahar and Debidwar lawmaker Abul Kalam Azad were guests of honour at the programme at Cumilla Victoria Government College auditorium on Saturday.

Kaler Kantho Chief Editor Imdadul Haq Milan delivered address of welcome on the occasion.

Underprivileged women from ten upazilas -- Homna, Daudkandi, Muradnagar, Chandina, Devidwar, Laksam, Manoharganj, Lalmai, Chauddagram and Nangalkot – received the sewing machines.

Addressing the programme, valiant freedom fighter Bahauddin Bahar praised the philanthropic activities of Bashundhara Group through the social volunteer platform.

Imdadul Haq Milan said Bashundhara Shuvosangho has provided various assistances including food to thousands of helpless people in North Bengal during COVID-19 pandemic.

“Under patronage of Bashundhara Group, the platform conducts many humanitarian activities, including scholarships to students, across the country over the years,” he said.

Cumilla Superintendent of Police Abdul Mannan, Victoria College Principal Prof Abu Zafor Khan and Bashundhara Shuvosangho Cumilla unit chief advisor Tariqul Islam Chowdhury and Director Zakaria Zaman were also present on the occasion.
