The Bangladesh Cricket Board will discuss the national cricket team’s performance in the ICC T20 World Cup in their upcoming board of directors meeting, scheduled on 2 July.

A top BCB official confirmed the development to The Daily Sun on Thursday adding that they will also evaluate the performance of head coach Chandika Hathurusingha during the meeting considering some of his decisions in the T20 World Cup raised quite a few eyebrows.

It is understood the decision to play with two pacers against India as well as their approach against Afghanistan in their do-or-die game in the Super 8 did not go well with some BCB high-ups as they believed not attempting to seal a spot in the semifinal only embarrassed them in front of the whole country.

“Nobody is happy with him (Hathurusingha) and I feel we have a meeting on the 2nd of July and we will give our observations in front of the BCB president during that point of time,” said the official on request of anonymity.

Meanwhile, the official added that they are not in a rush to drop Najmul Hossain Shanto from the leadership role but hinted that there is a possibility of relieving him from the red-ball duty.

Along with that, he added that they are not getting ready to bring changes in the team when he was asked to reflect on the future of Mahmudullah and Shakib Al Hasan. “I’m sure when the time is right, they will say goodbye. But taking any decision regarding them based on this World Cup performance won’t be right,” said the official.
