The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will conduct a drive in Mohammadpur Beribandh area of the capital on Thursday to demolish a part of much-talked-about Sadeeq Agro, which was allegedly built on a canal and a road.
A DNCC circular on Wednesday said a mobile court, led by two executive magistrates, will conduct the drive to remove illegal installations of Sadeeq Agro.
Talking to the Daily Sun on Wednesday evening, DNCC Chief Executive Officer Mir Khairul Alam said the farm was built occupying the Ramchandrapur canal as well as road.
He said, "We’ve made a measurement and found that the farm was built on our canal. That's why we’ve decided to reclaim the land demolishing the illegal portion of the farm."
Sadeeq Agro came to light before Eid-ul-Azha after selling a goat to the son of customs official Matiur Rahman for Tk12 lakh as well as Brahman breed of cow, the import of which is banned in Bangladesh.
