The Detective Branch (DB) of police on Wednesday arrested Mostafiz and Faisal, two of the main accused in lawmaker Azim murder case, from Khagrachhari hill tracts during a combing operation using a helicopter.

Shimul Bhuiyan was the main killer while Mostafiz and Faisal were the second and third most important members in the seven-member killing team, DB chief Harun-or-Rashid told reporters Wednesday after bringing the latter two to Dhaka on a helicopter.

Harun-or-Rashid initiated the search and arrest operation on Wednesday noon deploying multiple teams at Khagrachhari hill tracts. He conduced operations both from helicopter and on the grounds. A day earlier, the detectives had conducted combing operations in Jashore district to detain Mostafiz and Faisal.

In total, seven accused in the case have been arrested, so far. The previous arrestees are: Saidul Karim Mintu, Kazi Kamal Ahmed alias Gas Babu, Celesty Rahman, Aman Ullah alias Shimul Bhuiyan and Tanvir Bhuiyan.
