India entered into the semi-finals of T20 World Cup 2024 with a win over Australia in their final Super Eight match at St Lucia.
The victory in Group 1 took India to 6 points, a mark that neither of Australia or Afghanistan or Bangladesh could reach.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma scored 92 runs off 41 balls with the help of 7 fours and 8 sixes as India posted a total of 205 for 5 in 20 overs.
During the game, Rohit Sharma became the first batter in the world to register 200 sixes in T20I cricket.
Rohit Sharma also became the batter with most sixes against a single opponent in international cricket.
Earlier, the Mitchell Marsh-led Australia elected to field first against the Rohit Sharma-led India after winning the toss in the Super Eight match of the T20 World Cup 2024.
The match was being played at Daren Sammy Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet which was crucial for both sides to secure a semi-finals' berth.
