Leaders and activists of the BNP will visit the grave of party founder Ziaur Rahman and offer fateha there on Monday, marking the holy Eid-ul-Azha.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, "The leaders and activists of the party, led by the members of the BNP standing committee, will offer fateha at Zia’s grave around 11:30 am.

"They will also offer a special munajat, seeking the salvation of Zia’s departed soul."

Later, the members of the party's Standing Committee will go to the Gulshan residence of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to exchange Eid greetings with her.

Khaleda Zia used to visit her husband Ziaur Rahman's grave every Eid.

The party has been following this tradition since Khaleda went to jail in a corruption case on 8 February 2018.

The BNP chairperson will celebrate Eid with her close relatives at 'Feroza' in Gulshan. Her younger brother Shamim Eskander and his family members will visit the BNP chief at her Gulshan residence.

Khaleda Zia's personal physician Prof AZM Zahid Hossain said her physical condition is the same as before.

"The BNP chief’s treatment is ongoing under close monitoring by doctors," he said.

The 78-year-old former prime minister has been suffering from liver, heart problems, arthritis, lung, diabetes, and eye problems for a long time.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will celebrate Eid at his village home in Thakurgaon. He met Khaleda at her Gulshan residence on Saturday night as he would not be in Dhaka during Eid.

Meanwhile, the party has congratulated the countrymen along with the leaders and activists and Muslims on the occasion of Eid.
