Ambassador Shahabuddin says Workshop on Investment Opportunities and Business Climate in Bangladesh

The Embassy of Bangladesh in Japan, in collaboration with Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) and International University of Japan (IUJ) organised a workshop on ‘Investment Opportunities and Business Climate in Bangladesh’ on Wednesday at the JETRO, Headquarter in Tokyo.
Ambassador of Bangladesh to Japan Shahabuddin Ahmed in his speech stressed collaboration among the government, industry and university to promote business and investment.
Mayumi Murayama, Executive Vice President of JETRO expressed her desire for more collaboration with Bangladesh in the future for investment promotion, said a press release.
Minister (Commerce) of Bangladesh Embassy Dr. Ariful Haque and Dr. Chengwei Xu delivered keynote presentation on ‘Bangladesh’s Economic Statecraft in Advancing Development- Analyzing the Role of Japan through a Comparative Analysis’ . They explained how Bangladesh is skillfully using economic statecraft to further its development.
Yuji Ando, Country Representative of JETRO Dhaka, delivered presentation on business situation of Japanese companies in Bangladesh based on a survey conducted by JETRO. Deputy General Manager of Marubeni Corporation Masato Tachibana shared investment opportunities and challenges in Bangladesh and shared their investment experience.
In the second part of the program, a panel discussion was held on Japanese FDI and ODA in Bangladesh, as well as Bangladesh-Japan trade, moderated by Dr. Chengwei Xu from International University of Japan. The panelists include, Dr. Baogang He, Deakin University, Australia, Dr. Guane Lim, National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), Japan, Dr. Hongzhou Zhang, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, Dr. Ariful Haque, Embassy of Bangladesh, Japan and Yuji Ando, JETRO, Dhaka.
Around sixty participants from Japanese companies attended the workshop.
