Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh on Tuesday said that waste in cattle market and animal sacrificial sites will be disposed of by the local administrations in each ward.
“Under new work plan and in light of previous experience, the corporation and you (the ward authorities concerned) will only complete the waste removal activities properly in your respective areas. We have ensured separate manpower and vehicles for each haat (makeshift cattle market),” he said.
The mayor said these while speaking at a coordination meeting at Mayor Hanif Auditorium of Nagar Bhaban in the capital in the participation of the ward councilors, representatives of Primary Collection Service Provider (PCSP) and related persons.
Proper management of the waste of sacrificed animals and makeshift markets was discussed in the meeting, a press release said.
Taposh urged all to finish their sacrificial rituals within the second day of the holy Eid-ul-Azha so that waste management works can be carried out smoothly.
“Our cleaners usually start working to remove waste from the night before Eid and this work is conducted on a continuous basis. All those involved in our cleaning activities need to celebrate Eid and rest too,” he said.
DSCC's Chief Waste Management Officer Mohammad Nasim Ahmed moderated the meeting while DSCC Chief Executive Officer Mizanur Rahman also spoke.
