55% university students worry about career

Students get frustrated after their admission into university due to the standard of education, atmosphere in residential hall and bullying by classmates and teachers. However, 55% of university students suffer from frustration thinking their future carrier, they informed.
The information came out in a survey titled, ‘Reason behind students’ worsening mental health during their university life,’ conducted by Anchal Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO).
The survey was conducted within a period from 15 February to 30 May this year. A total of 1 thousand 570 students of 88 universities took part in the survey. Of the participants, 52% were female students, while 48% were male students. Age of 95% students was between 17 and 26. Age of rest of the students was between 27 to 30 years. The largest number of 23% participants was 3rd year students.
In the survey, about 80% of students informed that they suffered from various symptoms of frustration. They went through experiences like tiredness, weight loss, failure to enjoy anything, change in sleeping style, thinking of committing suicide and inability to concentrate in study. About 83% students of public universities, 80% students of private universities and 61% students of National University went through the aforementioned experiences.
Around 32% of students informed that they are thinking of going abroad for higher study, around 30% of them want to do government job, around 10% are dreaming of becoming entrepreneurs and only 7% of them want to do non-governmental jobs. Presently, about 22% of them do not think about their professional life.
The study revealed that more than half of the students are concerned over their future carrier and professional life. Over it, they suffer from depression. While comparing with other students, over 16% of students suffer from frustration. Bullied by senior students and teachers and sexual harassment, they are pushed towards frustration. About 31% of students informed that they fell prey to different kinds of harassment during their university life.
