Defence ministry budget increases by Tk220cr

A total of Tk42,315 crore has been allocated for the Ministry of Defence in the proposed budget for FY2024-25, which is up by Tk220 crore compared to the outgoing FY.
Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali announced the budget in parliament on Thursday.
Although the ministry was earmarked for Tk42,095 crore in the outgoing FY, the government brought it down to Tk38,174 crore in the revised budget.
The defence ministry includes Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Air Force, DGFI, DGDP, DGMS, National Defence College, DSCSC, Armed Forces Medical College, MIST, Cadet Colleges, BNCC, Bangladesh Meteorological Department, SPARRSO, Survey of Bangladesh, DMLC, DFD, MES, CAO, ISPR, Department of Cypher, MODC, Bangladesh Ordnance Factory, ISSB, and BASB.
Of the total allocation, Tk46 crore has been allocated for the Armed Forces Division, which consists of Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, and Bangladesh Air Force, in the budget for FY25, which was Tk45 crore in FY24.
