Awami League (AL) leader Shafi Ahmed, one of the frontline leaders who waged a mass movement against the dictator in the 90s, died on Monday.
He breathed his last at his residence on Monday afternoon, his wife Tahera Khandkar confirmed to the Daily Sun.
Ahmed died of a heart attack when he was sleeping on Monday afternoon, said Tahera.
He was general secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League (Jasad) central committee during the student movement of the 90s. He was a student of the Law Department of Dhaka University.
Later, he joined Awami League politics.
He was assistant secretary of the AL central committee. Later he became a member of the sub-committee of Liberation War Affairs of the party.
