PTE Academic or Pearson Test of English Academic is a fully computerised English test that is scored by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and is highly capable of accurately evaluating candidates’ academic English proficiency in all the four basic communicative skills – speaking, writing, reading and listening.

Perhaps its most rewarding feature is that PTE delivers unbiased grading systems that stem from a combination of AI scoring and human expert scorers, who train the scoring engine on speaking and writing tasks to reduce the risks of bias that can otherwise favour certain linguistic backgrounds more than others. Candidates who feel intimated or shy to speak in front of a human examiner can finally have one less thing to worry about.

PTE Academic also offers a great deal of flexibility as results can be received via email within two working days and test scores can be shared with relevant institutions, at the click of a button -- using Pearson’s online portal or Score Report Code.

PTE overall scores are out of 90. While universities prefer a minimum score of 55 to 60 for admission, an overall score of 79+ will help candidates to unlock many future opportunities in terms of immigration or higher studies. The PTE Academic certificate is accepted around the world and widely recognised in countries like, Australia, UK and New Zealand.

The test is about 2 hours long and taken in a secure testing centre where candidates do not need to bring anything but their passports with them. The testing centre provides access to a computer, a headset and a notepad with a couple of markers. There are two testing centres in Dhaka and one in Chattogram. 

PTE Academic exam scores are now accepted by over 3500 universities globally and is gradually becoming more popular in Bangladesh for its ease, accuracy and simplicity.
