A woman named Liza Akhter (25) was arrested by the Zajira Police Station with eight rounds of bullets, a one-shooter gun, and 40 pieces of yaba pills in Zajira, Shariatpur.

The woman was arrested from Boalia village in Mulna union of the upazila at around 4:15 am on Saturday (May 25).

The detainee is the wife of Akkas Dhali, a resident of that area.

According to sources at Zajira Police Station, based on the information that Yaba is being purchased and sold, the police raided the house of Akkas Dhali in Boalia village of Mulna union under the leadership of police inspector Sujan Haque of Zajira Police Station.

Sensing the police presence, Akkas escaped.

Meanwhile, Akkas Dhali's residence was searched, and Akkas Dhali's wife Liza Akhter was arrested along with 40 pieces of yaba, a locally made one-shooter gun, and eight rounds of bullets.

Police Inspector (Investigation) of Jazeera Police Station Sujan Haque said, "On Friday night, based on secret information, we came to know that yaba was being bought and sold in the house of Akkas Dhali in the Boalia area of the Mulna Union. After that, we raided there along with SI Humayun Kabir and other members of the force. During the raid, we recovered a one-shooter gun and eight pieces of ammunition from under the bed in the living room. After further searching, we recovered 40 pieces of yaba from the table drawer in their bedroom."

Talking to journalists, Zajira Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hafizur Rahman, said, “A woman named Liza Akhtar has been arrested with locally made weapons, including bullets and yaba tablets. Filing of two separate cases under the Arms and Narcotics Control Act is underway against the arrested woman.”
