Bangladesh will be looking to give a final touch to their ICC T20 World Cup preparation when they take on hosts USA in the three-match T20I series opener at the Prairie View Cricket Complex in Houston today.

The match is scheduled to start at 09:00pm (BST) and will be telecast live on Nagorik TV.
The Tigers will start the series as clear favourites but their main target in the series will be to get accustomed to the weather, conditions and wickets of the USA, where they will play their opening two World Cup games respectively against Sri Lanka and South Africa.

These two matches will actually dictate Bangladesh’s future in the tournament as if they lose both games, they will be all but out of the group stage before heading towards St. Vincent to play their remaining two games against Netherlands and Nepal.

The venue for the series between Bangladesh and USA is close to the match venue of the Tigers’ opening Group D match against Sri Lanka on 8 June while the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York will host the match between Bangladesh and South Africa on 10 June.
So, Bangladesh can get an extended idea of USA conditions while playing the series against the hosts, starting from today, and it can play a key role in their mission of the T20 World Cup.
Meanwhile, this is only the second time Bangladesh team is featuring in international matches on USA soil as the last time they played was back in 2018 when they played the last two games of a three-match T20I series against West Indies in Florida.

However, this will be the first time when both Bangladesh and USA will go head to head in an international match and the series will be a historical one for the hosts as they are set to play their maiden series against a full member nation from the sub-continent in their cricket history.
Bangladesh will be expecting that their key players Liton Das and Najmul Hossain Shanto return to form through the series against USA while they will be also hoping that their spinners do well in this type of wicket which is predicted by some experts to be ‘spin-friendly’.

Meanwhile, USA will be looking to stun Bangladesh in the three-match T20I series in order to get a big boost before the start of their ICC T20 World Cup campaign against Canada on 2 June.
The inclusion of former New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson in USA squad has already increased their strength to some extent and they will be hopeful to cause an upset against Bangladesh to give a statement to all participating teams in the forthcoming World Cup of their strengths.
