The union parishad chairmen will now have to attend their respective offices across the country following a fixed schedule, similar to the government officials.
According to a circular issued on 15 May by the Union Parishad, branch-1 of the Local Government Department of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives.
The local body public representatives have also been asked to inform the Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) if they are absent from their offices, said the circular.
The government came up with the instruction to make the government easy and time-effective for the rural people
The government issued this instruction to rationalise its activities and make its services more accessible and efficient for rural people across the country, added the circular.
The circular signed by Purabi Goldar, senior assistant secretary of the ministry, said that the union parishad, among all the local government institutions, has been providing various services staying very close to the rural people.
The government’s one of the main objectives is to reach the services to the doorstep of all people across the country within a possible shortage time, it said.
