The Embassy of Bangladesh held a ground breaking ceremony on Friday for its new chancery construction project located at Tiergartensraße, a traditional diplomatic quarter in Berlin.

Ambassadors and diplomats from Indonesia, India, Kosovo, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, a representative from the office of Mayor of Berlin, the President of the flat owners’ association of the neighbourhood and other stakeholders attended the event among others.

In his inaugural speech, Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, the Ambassador of Bangladesh in Berlin highlighted the extra-ordinary support received from the Berlin Senate which includes multiple extensions of time-period for starting of the construction work.

He expressed his sincerest gratitude to the Project consultant firm Peter Ruge Architekten for its dedication and unwavering commitment in completion of design and building permit application during 2020-2021 amidst the constraints emanated through the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mabetex Group won the contract as a General Contractor of the project by an evaluation committee in early 2023 which was followed by a signing of a work contract between the Government of Bangladesh and the company in December 2023.

The Embassy is confident that the construction will be completed in stipulated two years’ time.

The Embassy is optimistic that all stakeholders involved will collaborate effectively with a shared vision and mutual trust for successful completion of the project.

Once completed, the Chancery construction project will be the first such project of the Government of Bangladesh in the EU.
