A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed Kacchi Bhai restaurant owner Sohel Siraz on a two-day remand in connection with the fire at his eatery on New Bailey Road that claimed lives of 46 people.

Siraz was shown arrested in the case and produced before a Dhaka court with a five-day remand prayer. However, the court granted a two-day remand, Nizam Uddin Fakir, sub-inspector (crime and information) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said.

A team of Immigration Police arrested him from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport shortly after his arrival from Malaysia Tuesday night, Nazim said.

Later, he was handed over to Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the investigation authority of the case filed over the fire incident took place on February 19.

With Siraz, who fled the counter immediately after the incident to avoid arrest, the law men so far arrested a total of seven accused in connection with case.
