Three people, including the driver and passenger of an auto-van, were killed in a truck accident on the Khulna-Mongla highway in Bagerhat on Saturday. 

The incident took place in the morning at the Chairman's Mor (junction) of the highway.

The deceased were identified as passengers Saeed Moral (45), son of Razzak Moral, and Md Azad (35), son of Ekhlas Moral, both hailed from Jhanjhaniya village in Rampal Upazila and van driver Moni Hossain (45), son of Mokbul Hossen of Kumlai Gabbunia village of the same upazila.

Police arrested the reckless truck driver Safayet Hossain (18), son of Samchhul Gazi of Chanda Afra village of Chaugachha Police Station in Jessore.

Bagerhat Police Media Cell Chief Coordinator Babul Akhter confirmed the matter.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rampal Police Station Somen Das said that the killer driver and the truck were in police custody. 

He also added that traffic on the highway was normal and legal action was under process.
