State Minister for Education Begum Shamsun Nahar Chapa said schools should not enroll more than 55 students per class to ensure the effective implementation of the new curriculum.
Mentioning that the government has already taken initiative in this regard, the state minister expressed hope that all the issues centering the new curriculum will be resolved soon.
She was speaking at a two-day workshop titled 'New Curriculum Expansion, Monitoring, and Mentoring' at BRAC CDM in Savar on Thursday.
Shamsun Nahar said the implementation of the new curriculum has begun with several challenges. There is a shortage of teachers in our educational institutions. The teacher-student ratio is not satisfactory. However, the NTRCA is working to solve the teacher shortage.
“It is time to work together to implement the new curriculum. But to truly transform learning, we must overhaul the roles and responsibilities of educational administration.
Such workshops will help make officers aware of their responsibilities and duties,” she added.
The state minister further stressed the importance of addressing public concerns regarding evaluation in the new curriculum formulation and implementation.
Director General (routine duties) of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, Prof Md Shahedul Khabir Chowdhury chaired the workshop, while Director of the New Curriculum Expansion, Monitoring, and Mentoring Programme, Prof Mahfuz Ali, Additional Secretary (development) of the Higher Secondary Education Department, Mohammad Khaled Rahim, and Chairman of the National Curriculum and Textbook Council, Prof Md Farhadul Islam were present at the workshop, among others.
