Two students of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) were killed and another one was injured in a road accident at Kaptai Road in the district on Monday afternoon. 

The deceased were identified as Shanto Saha, son of Kajal Saha of Narsingdi Headquarters, and Taufik Hossain, son of Delwar Hossain of Sudharam upazila in Noakhali district, while the injured was Zakaria Himu.  

Of them, Shanto was a student of the 20th batch while Taufik and Zakaria of the 21st batch of the Civil Engineering department of the university. 

Sources said the accident occurred when the bike, riding by the trio, collided head-on with a bus of ‘Shah Amanat Paribahan’ near Salima Quader College at Kaptai Road under Rangunia upazila in the district. 

The accident left the trio injured critically. They were rushed to different hospitals where doctors declared Shanto and Taufik dead, said Assistant Registrar (Public Relations) Rashedul Islam. 

The injured Zakaria was undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital, he said.
