The capital city of Dhaka is yet to get its usual look though the government, semi-government, and private offices opened on Monday after the holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr and Pahela Baishakh.
Holidaymakers were still returning to the capital city using roads, rivers, and railways after celebrating the festivals with people of their roots.
As all the people were yet to join their offices after Eid, there was a low presence of employees almost in all offices. Also, the bustling city still looked nearly empty, with most roadside shops and shopping malls remaining closed and a low number of vehicles on the streets.
On Tuesday, there was a rush of returning passengers at Sadarghat Launch Terminal, Kamalapur Railway Station, and all the bus terminals of Dhaka.
Passengers expressed satisfaction over the hassle-free Eid journey this time, thanks to the government for increasing monitoring to reduce the sufferings of the holidaymakers.
Dhaka-bound passengers said they had not faced much suffering on their way back to Dhaka this time. There was a relief in the launch journey as well.
Many passengers, however, said they were charged extra fairs by the long-haul bus companies.
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday were public holidays on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. After that, Saturday was a weekly holiday, and Sunday (14 April) too was a holiday on the occasion of Bengali New Year or Pahela Baishakh.
