In the midst of soaring prices of daily commodities, including house rent, leaving many struggling to make ends meet, a landlord in the Rupali Housing area in Mirpur of the capital has set a glowing example of generosity.
On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, the landlord made an unprecedented decision to waive the house rent entirely for all his tenants.
Alimur Rahman Shufal, residing as a tenant at house number 61 of Rupali Housing, shared the information on social media, where it quickly went viral.
Posting the notice issued by the landlord on his Facebook profile, Shufal wrote, “An Eid gift from my landlord. In my short life in Dhaka city, I've never encountered such generosity. Alongside wealth, possessing a compassionate soul is equally vital. May Allah grant him goodness in this life and hereafter.”
When reached for comment, Shufal stated, “I merely expressed my gratitude as a tenant through the Facebook post.”
Meanwhile, the landlord, when contacted, expressed to remain anonymous, preferring to keep the gesture private.
It's understood that this landlord owns two houses in Rupali Housing and extended this 'special gift' of rent waiver to all his tenants.
While Shufal’s Facebook post received widespread praise for the landlord's benevolence, many users also shared their bitter experiences with other landlords.
One Nazmul Hasan commented, “Praise be to Allah. Such acts are rare, brother. My prayers are with him.”
Another person Manzoor Murshed inquired, “Where is this house located? Are there any vacant flats available?”
Facebook user Antu Mujahid shared the post on his timeline, expressing a wish, “O Allah, may all landlords in the capital emulate this example overnight.”
