Ambassador of France in Bangladesh Marie Masdupuy called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice Chancellor Professor Dr ASM Maksud Kamal at the latter’s office on Sunday.

DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof Dr Sitesh Chandra Bachar, Director of Alliance Francaise Francois Grosjean, and visiting Professor of DU Oceanography Department Dr Tonia Astrid Capuano were also present on the occasion.

During the meeting, they discussed matters of various mutual and bi-lateral issues including the possibilities of strengthening ongoing collaborative academic and cultural programmes among Dhaka University and universities in France.

They emphasized on pursuing higher education of more DU students and young faculties in France.

They stressed the need for expansion of French language programme at Dhaka University and enhancement of collaboration at DU Oceanography Department.

France Ambassador Marie Masdupuy expressed her willingness to provide more scholarships for DU students and young faculties of different academic fields including science, social science, environmental science, medical science and engineering.

Besides, scholarships will also be given to French Language learning students of Dhaka University.

She also apprised DU VC of providing adequate support and cooperation to French Language Programme at DU Institute of Modern Languages.

We want to develop cooperation and collaboration with young artists of DU. In this regard a workshop will be organized in October next at DU Fine Art Faculty where  French artists are expected to attend, the ambassador said.

DU VC Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal said, “We'd like to enhance our collaboration and strengthen our friendship with France through joint educational and cultural exchange programmes.”

He sought more support and cooperation from France to foster education and research activities of Dhaka University.

He thanked the France Ambassador for her visit and keen interest in strengthening collaboration with DU.

After the meeting, the Ambassador visited the ‘Animation Lab’ which was established at DU Fine Arts Faculty under a project of Alliance Francaise Dhaka.
