Police seize documents from Transcom office

The police have seized documents of Transcom Group from its Gulshan office in Dhaka on Thursday in connection with three cases filed over property disputes among the heirs of its late founder Latifur Rahman.
Superintendent of Police Jahangir Alam of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) confirmed the matter.
Officials of PBI, which is investigating the cases, said they would analyse the documents for the sake of further investigation, refusing to comment on what sort of documents they seized.
On 22 February, Latifur Rahman’s younger daughter Shahzreh Huq, a director of Transcom Group, lodged the cases with Gulshan police station against her sister Simeen Rahman, CEO of the group, their mother Shahnaz Rahman, now chairman of the company, and Simeen’s son Zaraif Ayaat Hossain, head of strategy and transformation, on charges of Tk100 crore embezzlement, unlawful possession of property, and illegal transfer of shares.
Later, the cases were handed over to the PBI for investigation.
The company’s five top officials – Chief Financial Officer Md Kamrul Hassan, Executive Director (Corporate Affairs) Fokhruzzaman Bhuiyan, Director (Corporate Finance) Abdullah Al Mamun, Assistant Company Secretary Mohammed Mossadeq, and Manager (Company Secretary) Abu Yusuf Md Siddik – were also made accused in the cases.
They were granted bail in the cases on 23 February, a day after their arrest.
