Road Transport and Highway Division Secretary A BM Amin Ullah Nure has said the facility for half fares for children and students is not being introduced in the metro rail.
He commented while making a pleasure tour with underprivileged children on the metro rail marking Bangabandhu’s birth anniversary and National Children’s Day on Sunday.
The Road Transport and Highway Division Secretary said there is no scope to launch a half pass for the children and students on the metro rail. But those who have an MRT pass will get a 10 percent discount.
The ticket for metro rail is a card system and is used by machines. It is not possible to detect anyone, either a student or any other professional. As a result, there is no chance to introduce a half-pass on the metro rail, he added.
Mentionable, the Directorate of Roads and Highways organised a pleasure tour at Metro Rail for 50 underprivileged children today.
