3-year-old becomes third fatality from Gazipur cylinder blast

A three-year-old on Saturday night became the third fatality in Gazipur cooking gas cylinder blast incident. A mason died earlier on the day, and another succumbed to his injuries on Friday, according to media reports.
The latest victim, Tayeba, 3, suffered burns to 90% of her body. She died at 7:45pm Saturday while undergoing treatment at ICU, said Dr Akramul Haque Sajal, assistant professor and ICU in-charge of the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Twenty nine victims of the cylinder blast incident are now undergoing treatment at the hospital.
On Wednesday, a cooking gas cylinder caught fire at a residence in Mouchak area of Kaliakair upazila, Gazipur.
When the residents of the house threw the cylinder out on the road, it exploded, leaving 35 people, mostly pedestrians, seriously injured.
