Exhausted after daylong toil even after observing fasting, rickshaw puller Makbul Hossain was taking rest on the roadside in Block-I of Bashundhara Residential Area in the capital on Friday afternoon. Suddenly, a pickup of Bashundhara Group loaded with Iftar items stopped beside him. Volunteers handed over an Iftar meal box and water to him.

Bashundhara Group distributed Iftar items among rickshaw pullers and day labourers in Dhaka city on the 4th day of the holy month of Ramadan on Friday.
Like Makbul, other rickshaw pullers and workers expressed their happiness at such a sudden gift in the afternoon of Ramadan.

Sharing his feelings, Makbul said Bashundhara Group continued support for underprivileged people like rickshaw pullers providing Iftar items.
“May Allah bless people connected with Bashundhara Group. Many rickshaw pullers can’t manage Iftar amid financial hardship. We’ll pray for them,” he said.

The pickup facilities of Bashundhara Group also distributed Iftar items among day labourers and rickshaw pullers in the area adjacent to Bashundhara Gold Refinery.
Kabir Hossain, in-charge of Bashundhara’s Iftar distribution programme, said Iftar items are being distributed among rickshaw pullers and construction workers of Bashundhara Residential Area from the first day of Ramadan.

“This will continue throughout the whole Ramadan. This event was held last year as well. Currently, 500 packets of Iftar with water are being distributed here. Apart from Bashundhara, Iftar is being distributed by Bashundhara among mosques, madrasahs, orphanages, labourers and marginalised people in different parts of the country,” he said.

Bashundhara Group is distributing Iftar items among 18,000-20,000 people in different areas of the country, including the capital, every day.
